How can i turn my bedroom into a new york city style apartment?

Hi all. I want to turn my bedroom into a carrie bradshaw (sex and the city) new york style apartment. Its black ad white (just had it decorated) so i like everything like that..but i want it to be really chic, with books out, looking really interesting, but most important, spaced out and not crowded. what can i do????? and what cool posters/pictures can i put up? thanks..//x

1. You can buy posters from the New Yok film festival, New York city museums or institutions. The Metropolitan Museum and the Museum of Modern Art offer some wonderful posters. These woould be common items in New York City apartments. The thing that really makes a New York City apartment distinctive is the use of limited space for multiple purposes. Bedrooms may do double duty as workspace, because few people can afford an extra room to use as an office. So set yourself up with a cool, modern desk with some great accessories to keep a workspace organized in your bedroom. And put up posters from the opera or a museum or concert.
2. OK you will need... tan,red,exc. those colors will match the style tan will be good for walls if you can and red will be good for chairs exc. Posters of like Avril and Colbie cailet Totally diggin!!
3. I always think of New York as having "loft-style" apts. or converted warehouse type spaces, both of which normally have high ceilings, possibly w/duct work running through them. so it really depends on what you have to work with-that whole ductwork/high ceiling look is accompanied by painting it all one color, usually a dark or stark color. Or... Lowes has these really cool, adhesive molded plastic 12x12 tiles, that give the impression of the old hammered copper ( & other great metalic looks) that could be put on the ceiling to create that old warehouse look. Don't kid yourself tho, the tiles are a bit pricey... Good luck
