How do I keep cockroaches out of my bedroom at night?
I've read that they are sensitive to movement and vibrations. If I put an oscillating fan on the floor when I go to bed, would that scare them away? I thought that just leaving the lights on when I go to bed would keep them out, but apparently they are not scared of the lights alone. Does anyone have experience or know how to scare them away when sleeping at night? I can't stand the thought of them crawling around my bedroom at night when I'm sleeping.

- Ew! I'm afraid I'd have to move house!
- I hate roaches too!!! There's a spray (I think it's made by the Raid people) that you can spray on your windows and doors to repel them from coming in and it lasts a while. I spray around the door and baseboards of my room too. That might be bad advice, because you might come into contact with it crossing your doorway and stuff, and read the directions, they might tell you not to use it inside. But I do and I'm not dead, and I sleep easier at night.
- How can you stand the thought of having them in your home at all? Gross! You can't choose which room they go in and others they can't! You need to get rid of them completely! They are unhealthy! You need to CLEAN and SPRAY for them and keep your home clean & keep spraying to keep them away!
- BUY SOMETHING TO KILL IT =]
- You need to have your entire house exterminated! Roaches carry diseases and leave nasty bacteria everywhere they crawl. Call a bug man, or go buy insecticide in a big pump sprayer to do it yourself. Please, for you own health!
- well first you just need to get an exterminator out as soon possible how long have they been in your house?? I wouldn't be able to sleep ever knowing they're there, so go ahead and get that taken care of
- im not sure about the oscillating fan. i used to live in a very humid, somewhat wooded area so we had a roach problem as well. we found that those little roach roach traps work pretty well. they are affordable and pet and child friendly. they not only kill the roach but when the roach goes back to the nest is kills the nest as well. we also used riddex. its a plug in the wall that sends out this certain noise that they hate and it kills them. they are a little pricey but i would be willing to pay to not have roaches in my room. also just try to keep that room with clean, cool air. roached love humid stiff air. good luck with things!
- I hate roaches…I can’t stand seeing one mmm…There is spray to kill those little sucker. You could also buy baits and bait stations. sprinkling a small amount of boric acid too.
- First you need to really clean...get rid of any papers or carboard laying around as roaches somehow seem to like that stuff...wipe down your walls with a bleach pinesol and hot water solution...if you don't have popcorn ceilings, do those too...a broom with a towel tied around it works great. If you have carpet, have it shampooed well. Change your bedding and vacuum your mattress and boxspring...vacuum under your dressers and other furniture in the room as well as your closet and shelves. after you've cleaned well, spray your room with Ortho Home Defense along the baseboards, the corners of the room and along any window sills...don't forget to spray under furniture and in the closet as well. Keep food and drinks out of your room and any excess rubbish to minimize hiding spaces. This works best if you start in one room and move to the next until the whole house is completed. You should still wash down the walls at least twice a month for it to be effective.
- Anything you use will be temporary and will soon ignore it. Elimination is the best. I had used roach traps, motels, various sprays, Borax, foggers and an exterminator - - all reduced the number but did not eliminate them but this did: www.bengal.com.order.htm I used the Gold (not the regular)
- There are ultrasonic repellers that plug into your outlets. Walmart, target, sam's club have carried them. When I lived in FL I had one in each room. About once a month move them around to different outlets. Drove bugs out and kept them away.
