Looking for a romantic and relaxing paint color for an adult bedroom?
I'm looking for recommendations. The only colors I don't like are red and green (except blue-green). We have a fairly small bedroom so I'm thinking not so much on the darker colors, but some lighter colors look babyish! Some ideas would really be appreciated. Don't need specific brands, but it would be ok. We don't have anything else to match in the room, we're pretty much starting from scratch. TIA!

- like a nice rose red, or Cinnamon brown. with ambient lighting.
- A reddish-brown or rust color with some recessed lighting with dimming controls
- How about like an avocado greenish you know?? just go on google and do avocado color paint and youll see some rooms with that color, its really nice.
- If you have alot of light in your room a robins egg blue with white for the trim would go with almost anything. Or a buttery yellow. Thesed colors bring the outdoors in. A few houseplants would really set it off. Try Better homes and Gardens for great ideas. http://www.bhg.com/decorating/paint/ http://decoratinggallery.bhg.com/Category.aspx?RoomTypeID=b41159d5-bf9d-409e-815c-9eb21ca7786f&IID=c93085fe-ed0f-486e-bcd2-e3cee02fef44
- Purple, but a darker shade. I know sounds dark but my mom has that and it is very nice.
- The wisest thing to do is to go to Benjamin Moore paints and ask them what their most popular colors are among the colors that you like. They can direct you to paints that look good regardless of the time of day, or whether the room gets light from the N, S, E or W. But a word of caution: It's wise to stay with neutral paints when it comes to painting a house regardless of the room(s) you're painting. The exceptions might be for, say, an old colonial house or a Philadelphia rowhouse, where blue (from blueberry) was true to the time period. It's much wiser to go for splashy pillows and bedspreads in colors that you like. The reason? If/when you decide to move/sell your home, splashy wall colors might (and will) turn off potential buyers. Even we were turned off by a home that had a dark brown carpet, plus another home that had a light blue carpet throughout the house. They just weren't 'us.' We bought a home, last move around, that had (yechh) baby robin blue paint throughout the 2-story family room and baby yellow paint in the kitchen. I could hardly stand it until we painted it neutral beige. But we got the house at probably a lower price because the blue and yellow colors turned people off. So unless you're willing to do a massive painting job before you move or sell your home, you are wiser to stick with neutral beige wall color and carpets and let your accessories, including art work, serve your romantic and adult desires (not a criticism--hey, all of us adults could benefit with some romantic stuff).
- I would go with a light tangerine more of a peachy color.
- Blues are great. Paint the walls either a blue of your choice or a deep yellow. Keep the rest bright white. This look neat and relaxing. Places like Garnet Hill have more muted bedding. You can layer these great colors :http://www.garnethill.com/jump.jsp?itemID=12309&itemType=PRODUCT&path=1%2C2%2C5%2C9019%2C9037&iProductID=12309 http://www.garnethill.com/jump.jsp?itemID=18314&itemType=PRODUCT&path=1%2C2%2C5%2C9019%2C9037&iProductID=18314 This next one i am showing you to get an idea of the blue paint or comforter you might like http://www.garnethill.com/jump.jsp?itemID=18771&itemType=PRODUCT&path=1%2C2%2C5%2C9019%2C9037&iProductID=18771 This is another great blue.
