What is the average electric bill for a 2 bedroom apartment?
I'm moving into a 2 bedroom apartment and want to know what to expect each month for my electric bill. The apartment has 2 bedrooms, one small bathroom, a living room, and a kitchen. Any answers/estimates I can get would be great! p.s. It's in Virginia

- it would help if i knew what state.
- If it is all on one story, probably around $100 if it is two story $150, at least that is what it costs in SoCal. Check out the website for your electric utility provider, ours has a cost estimator that will help you to figure out what to expect. It also tells you how much it costs to run certain appliances based on the price per kilowatt hour.
- Mine right now is $125 a month with 3 window A/c units running...........
- Well you might be able to find out from the local electric company and ask them , they might give the estimated bills for the previous tenants. Also take into consideration on how much appliances you might be using all the time. Take for instance if you plug in your iron and you are not using it it still is running up kilowatts, just like anything else , if it is plugged in it is using power.
- This will vary hugely by location and even individual habits. The fees and charges that are fixed every month on my bill are frequently more than the actual charge for usage. To give you some perspective, I live in a 1000 sq ft condo. My montly bill during the summer is usually $80-$100. My neighbor in the same size unit never has a bill below $175... If you contact the current (or prior) power providor, they may be able to tell you what the previous months bills were. Keep in mind that this is still individual to the user. If you can also talk to the current (or previous) tennant to see what there habits are like, it will give you a much better picture on what to expect. Ideas for saving on your bill: Use as many floescent light bulbs as possible. They use a fraction of the electricy. Turn lights, TVs, Radios, etc off when not in use. Do your laundry and dishes when you have full loads only.
- Top floors are going to be a higher bill. Middle and bottom floors have a lower bill. Generally speaking, you can expect a top floor two bedroom to have an electric bill between $75 to $150. The bottom appartments will be a little less, at $50 to $125. Hope this helps ;-)
- So many factors....no idea !
- Well i also recently moved into a two bedroom with a living room, kitchen, and dining room. I guess it all depends on how often ur home. Both my fiance and I work full time, so we're usually at the house only for a few hours during the day and at night to sleep. In the day time we usually have the window blinds, or curtains open for light to save money. At night we'll have a light or two on and the TV. If u really dont need a light on dont use it. Its a 2nd floor also, and our bill usually comes out to about 47-50 dollars. Just improvise on how to save that energy and a few dollars in ur wallet.
- depends entirely where you live and how many people living there. Assuming 2 people, all year round, I would say $110
