How much is the rent for just one bedroom in California?

I am planning to move out of my parents, and I want to just rent a bedroom, in the southern California area, preferably the San Fernando Area, and since I've never had to pay rent here, I want to plan out how much I will have to set apart monthly. 1. you should check www.craigslist.org it gives you a lot of listings so you can find what you want in a specific area and it lists all the amenities that come with the space.
2. I have been renting for 10 years in Santa Cruz. Rents have gone up and down but you can expect to pay $400-$800 for a decent place. $800 should get you something nice. don't forget utilities.
