bedroom painting ideas?

i am 13 years old, and me and my mom are painting my room tomorow. i need good color schemes and design Ideas. [example: white and black checkers] I was thinking that the colors could be blue, green and white, but I need more ideas. If you could give me a website or two, that would be great. Or links to pictures. Any ideas will help. Give as many as possible. Thanks!

  1. I probably could list a dozen ideas for you, but not really knowing you or your style, that might be a fruitless effort. My best advice is to pick out something small that you really like, say a stuffed animal that you've had since you were little or a pillow that your grandma has on her couch. Just something that's really special to you. Next, start pulling colors out of it, no matter how odd they are. Use that as your guide for wall color, bedding, rugs, etc. The end result will be something that you'll really like since it's inspired by one of your favorite things. But, if all else fails, here's a website for you that will probably spark some ideas for you. http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/dc_design_childrens/article/0,1793,HGTV_3367_5586130,00.html Good Luck and HAVE FUN!
  2. Choose your favorite of the three colors you mentioned (green, blue, and white.) Then paint the walls your favorite, paint the ceiling white, and paint the door and all the window frames, closet frames, border around the top and/or bottom walls the secondary color. Or, if you can find a sponge in a shape that you like, dip the sponge in the secondary paint and press it lightly against the walls after you have painted the walls the primary color. My cousin did that in her room, so her room was white with pink bunny-shapes arranged so it looked like they were hopping in a border around the top of her walls. Cute!
  3. Can't go wrong with blue, green and white. Your bedroom should be calm and not hyper colors!! You can check the HGTV.com and DIY.com for more ideas or use a Yahoo search under bedroom colors.
  4. All these ideas so far sound great to me. My husband is a professional painter and he has painted our living room a way I would never imagined would work. He has three of the walls a very light color (I'd call it a dark shade of creme, but I am sure it's not that simple. It's a light coffee color, I guess. The ceiling is white but not a stark white; it's very subtle. The fourth wall is a darker chocolate color and you can not even tell it is so much darker because of the light (this wall has a huge picture window in it) and the length of the room. Finally, and this was the part I thought was cool - he painted the quarter rounds at the top of the ceiling a very definite white. Quarter rounds are little pieces of wood that go around the parameter of the room right where the walls meet the ceiling (or the floor.) You can ask at the paint store if they have someone who knows color like that?! Have fun! Thanks mom for letting you (and her be so adventurous!!) Wish we could see the final results!
