Bedroom Talk

I need original ideas for painting my bedroom?

I'm moving into my dad's house so I'm gonna remodel my bedroom. I need some original ideas for painting and colors and what not. I'm 18 and I don't really like pink girly colors, or dark depressing colors, or bright neon colors. Hope this narrows it down. Any ideas are helpful. Thanks!

  2. how about you sponge paint your walls a burgendy color.it looks really cool. but instead of using a sponge use a crumpled up pastic bag. buy decorative pillows and a decorative throw. just make sure at the end it all goes together well
  3. K you can make really cool shapes on the wall by taping off stars on the wall. Then paint the walls blue or a green but dont paint the taped off area. So when you peal off the tape you have white stars on a blue or green background. You can use any shapes you like. It is really original and creative. You dont have to use green or blue. It is a really fun! U also can just paint one wall like that. You can make the star a different color and make the other walls the color of the stars! Trust me, it rocks!
  4. Ok, here's what you do. Pick something that you are fond of and use it for inspiration for your color scheme. For example, pull out your favorite sweater, stuffed animal, T-shirt, book, or poster. Use the primary color as the color for your walls, the secondary color for the trim, and any additional accent colors for just that, accents. As far as themes go, pick an interest or hobby. However, don't' go overboard and stick with those things that you are likely to enjoy for the long term. Remember trends change, classic style endures.
  5. Find something you love and use it for inspiration. For example, pull out your favorite dress or outfit. Lay it out on the floor and examine it for things that you like about it. Incorporate those elements and colors into your room. I based the entire color scheme of my kitchen off of an orange tulip from my yard. I ended up combining shades of orange, yellow, and green, and I love the end result. I've also taken inspiration from greeting cards, sheets, and magazine ads. Look around. You'll find something that sparks your interest. I find that Target has a great selection of more modern and young decorating items. Check there for ideas.

  8. Shades of green are the easiest color to live with. There are over 1 million shades. Try looking at some soothing shades at you local paint store. Whatever color you choose you can tape off 12 inch vertical stripes and alternate painting a coat of clear satin or glossy varnish. It is a very subtle but very cool effect. Happy painting!
