I need some ideas to paint my room. Please help i cant decide what color to use?

I have a mahogany traditional bedroom set and two of my walls are dark brown so my room looks very dark when i just go into my room. i want to decorate my room and bathroom w/ blue and brown and i want it to match. i love those two colors toghter but i think that it would only look right with modern bedroom sets. Please help me with some coloring ideas

1. A very light tan or sand color would brighten and be neutral enough to match other color variations including blue tones. FYI I am an interior designer so this is the safest answer without being able to view the space.
2. Paint it bright green and dark purple
3. Why not start by painting 3 walls blue and seeing if that lightens the room enough. If not go for 4 blue walls and pick your accessories in brown. It is a very rich color combination. Another thing to try...have the brown wall be the window wall. That way light is able to bounce back from the lighter walls.
4. I love those colors too and have them in my room. Paint the walls a nice shade of blue. I used "Mystic Harbor" by Behr and love it. Then buy a cream or white comforter and add lots of pillows with browns, different shades of blue, different sizes shapes and patterns. I have striped curtains in tan, white, brown, navy and blue. You don't have to have modern furniture to make this look work.

6. A pale blue would look absolutely gorgeous against the dark mahogany wood and looks great in a modern or traditional environment A color I have used in the past that I always thinks looks stunning is First Dawn by Dulux. I find it really lightens and brightens any room, so your room will not feel so dark, even if you wanted to keep your brown walls. A pale blue is perfect for decorating bathrooms too, so you will be all set... Wishing you lots of luck in your decorating - hope you enjoy the results! x
7. I don't think you necessarily have to have a modern bedroom set to use a chocolate/blue color scheme.
